Play it safe by the water
Life Saving Victoria
Life Saving Victoria is Victoria’s peak water safety organisation, helping all Victorians to safely enjoy activities in open waterways (including beaches, rivers and lakes) and aquatic facilities.
Their volunteer lifesavers patrol 57 beaches across the state from mid-November to Easter to ensure you and your family swim between the red and yellow flags and enjoy the beach safely.
They work with schools, clubs and businesses to deliver education and training programs on water safety, swimming and resuscitation to help you make safe choices around water and learn to swim and survive.
Training courses including CPR, First Aid and aquatic qualifications will give you practical skills to become an ‘Everyday Lifesaver’ and act quickly and confidently in an emergency situation.
Life Saving Victoria also contributes to industry research, including producing the annual drowning report.
Swimming Victoria is the governing association for swimming in Victoria.
Established in 1893, it is a not-for-profit organisation representing the interests of approximately 160 swimming clubs and over 11,500 members.

Surfing Victoria conducts a range of age and discipline events and delivers educational programs to coaches, instructors, recreational surfers and competitors.
